Five Biplanes On Jetty Beach, Coffs Harbour, NSW

Captions read “Inspecting the planes at Coffs” and “Aeroplanes at Coffs.”

Both photographs, showing Tiger Moth planes, were taken on the same day from different parts of the Jetty Beach at Coffs Harbour.

These planes were used for joyrides and were “equipped with a 100 bp engine…maximum speed of about 85 miles an hour. [One plane] saw service in Palestine as a bombing machine.” Ref: Coffs Harbour Regional Collection; Coffs Harbour Advocate, 19.6.1920.
