Jenny Kee’s name appears below a brilliantly coloured square design framed by the words “Earth First” and “Wilderness.” Plant, animal, celestial and geometric motifs are arranged like a textile or patchwork: a dolphin, fish, bird, flowers, stars, eyes and spirals form a dense visual ecology linked by the phrases “Wild About Wilderness” and “Sons of the earth, mankind, to weave the web of life, he is merely.” The composition was produced in association with The Wilderness Society and carries a 1989 copyright line for Jenny Kee under licence to True Blue Posters Pty Ltd. Kee’s characteristic synthesis of fashion, Australian nature and environmental advocacy turns the conservation message into a decorative, highly recognisable emblem.
